Starting a room from scratch, mid blue sofas

The room is empty; no curtains, no furniture, nothing. The floor is stone slabs, so no need for a carpet but a rug would be nice. The walls are neutral.

What colour scheme would you suggest if I go ahead with the mid blue sofas?
Navy, cream, neutrals?

Pinterest is not my friend, I've lost the will.

With a mid blue sofa, I'm thinking ocre type yellow and aquas.
John Lewis have an ocre theme at the moment. Will try post some links.
Basically think Loaf.

Check out the picture....I screen shot a website page I use a lot.ci made the ochre type colour and then searched and it came up with a palette of colours, including blues.
The website is design-seeds.com

Verbena, thank you.
The sofa is almost the identical colour. I love the rug an like the idea of something brighter.

Any ideas for curtains?

I'm having a sofa crisis too.....gotta be a leather corner modular sofa (cats scratch material sofas) but has very specific width requirements so it doesn't hit the lounge door! It's doing my head in.

God point about cats, maybe velvet isn't the best choice.

We have these www.pinterest.com/pin/322500023289892832/ sofas, with plain curtains in a similar-ish shade, walls are painted in Antique Ivory paint from Homebase, a kelim on the floor which is mostly mid blue and cream.

Furniture mostly old, dark wood. I pick up the wood tones with chocolate sofa throws, and sort of bring it all together with a ton of cushions mostly in mid blue, cream, and chocolate, all different styles and textures.

That all sounds a bit more planned than it really is - nothing is matchy matchy, but it all sort of goes together, a bit.

The only time I wish we didn't have blue sofas and curtains is Christmas - they really aren't Christmassy.

MerryHippogriffs · 03/09/2015 23:01

Oh, and the colour of the sofas is a bit lighter and a lot softer than shown on that link, partly because I've washed the covers a lot.

I think with blue, you can pretty much do anything! Depends on how much colour you like.
We have a Loaf crumpet sofa - it's quite possibly the best thing I've ever bought - in this shade of blue. Also have a dull yellow sofa. Walls are v slightly blue-grey. Rugs are this one and a dull yellow with blue and red (from Morocco), and curtains are in this print. Cushions, quilts and footstool are all colours.
It sounds nuts, but it actually works really well, and I think it's because of the big blue sofa. But then, I also like a lot of colour Smile

loresho you have fabulous taste, love the sofa & anthropology rugEnvy

I've ordered fabric samples from Loaf now.
