Hi, just having a bit of a rant really, we sold our house in June to what we thought was a cash buyer, estate agent basically told us she had sold and didn't need a mortgage to buy our house, cleverly omitting details which we took to mean she was at the bottom of the chain. As it happens there are two below her, luckily I spoke to the agent of the house we are buying who gave me very clear information about the correct state of the chain. We're still waiting for the chain to complete as people above us have been messed about. Our agent seems to think the chain is fine, our vendors agent says that the people at the bottom of the chain are beginning to get fed up and could wobble.
We (perhaps stupidly) have had survey etc done (mortgage company said we could start process off then hold valuation which turned out to be another salesman's lie which was recognised in complaint and some monies returned) - not such a problem as if the chain is completed they've agreed to extend their mortgage offer. As anyone in a chain is going to be, I know this could go on for ever and could collapse as late as day of exchange - just wondered if anyone could share good/bad experiences and give any advice?? I'm trying to be proactive and ring the more switched on agent every now and again to try and get things moving but at this rate we'll be lucky to be in the new house before Easter let alone Christmas!!
