Holes in a trampoline

I have recently noticed a few small holes appearing in our trampoline about 1cm long. My two small children are upset but I had to explain as the trampoline gets older (5years) gradual wear and tear will cause holes to appear. I have looked at other forums and seen that in old age trampolines will get holes that may or may not grow depending on the type of trampoline

We bought a new mat online and fixed ours, no one was aloud on with holes in it.

Ok, so I would get a new one then?

Ours had small holes from neighbours bonfire ash. We phoned Supertramp who confirmed the edges would have fused (they had) so would not get worse (they didn't). We tested it every season and had many years with no damage increase, it now has a new home and still going strong after very many years of use with us.
