This might be different from council to council but I can't see anything on websites.
Once I upload all the building reg docs how soon are we allowed to start digging foundations?

In my area it depends on whether it's a full plans application, in which case you have to wait for it to be approved, or if it's a notification in which case you can start after 48 hours of them receiving the application and the notice that you intend to start.

What's the difference?

I have to submit our approved plans and structural engineer calcs.

How long does approval take?

Ours took 11 weeks for them to say yes, which was a double storey extension nothing fancy just what others have done round our way....

Omg! That long?
So pretty much as long as getting planning permission?

sorry I thought you meant planning permission, with us as soon as we got the yes, we started we already paid our building regs when we were waiting, so then I just called to them saying we are starting when everything was o.k.
