Does Anyone live in Thirsk?

My OH and I are thinking of moving to Thirsk with my 2yo and new baby. Just wondered if there are places to avoid? or places to definitely aim for?
I love the fact that most villages around Thirsk seem to be within walking distance of the station and the town - a big plus point for us.
Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks

We're trying for Ripon! I struggle to get any answers on here when I query about the area. Can't with out why. I am hoping to take the train to London FYI thirst through.

Anyway how some thirskers will turn up soon!

I live near Ripon - it's lovely - what do you want to know? For trains to London Northallerton is better - there are more direct trains and they are more frequent but it is not that far (about 25 mins...)
