So dulux Weathershield or similar for the top coat, what goes underneath? Oh and do I use the same kind of paint in exterior woodwork?

If you are using a water-based masonry paint, you treat bare wall with one (or preferably two) mist coats thinned with water and well stirred. The dry wall will suck it in. You will know the wall is done when it no longer sucks paint off your brush.

Same as emulsion paint on bare plaster.

For woodwork, an oilbased gloss, undercoat and primer system. Aluminium wood primer is especially durable.

Great, thank you!
