New bathroom and fitting, who would you recommend?

We need a new bathroom suite and we want to have it installed DH is quite capable but I don't have a year to spend waiting for a working shower

Does anyone have any recommendations for who to use? We visited Homebase and Bathstore today, prices were similar but does anyone have any horror stories to share?

Thanks

Find a plumber who will install a bathroom for you and do any tiling you want too. Will be cheaper than the installation people either retailer uses. Ask friends and neighbours if they have any recommendations.

Bathstore quality gets a poor write up on here, although I found their online design tool and the in store help very useful.

We've just had our bathroom re-done. I sourced the tiles, bought the bath and panel from B&Q, taps from an online retailer and the plumber sourced the shower tray, enclosure, basin and vanity from a plumbers' merchants. We paid an amount for materials upfront and they quickly appeared at our house. The balance is payable on completion and there is one item of snagging being sorted out today, hopefully.

We're due to have ours totally redone in the autumn and we've gone with an independent retailer who does the lot. If you're in Cambs area would be happy to pm you the company!

We're paying more by going with a company to do the lot but the problem is we don't know a plumber who we trust to do it and don't have any friends/family who can recommend anyone either.

I found our company initially through yell.com and then went into their showroom so maybe the same could work for you?

like wowfudge I would find a recommended builder or plumber to do the installation and would buy the bits myself from bathroom showrooms or online (or ask the builder to source, as they don't pay vat). It's not as convenient as a one stop shop but means you get to choose from a much wider range of products and can often get better quality for the same cost.
