Where to start... New build garden/blank canvas

We've recently moved into a house with a 30ftx30ft square of lawn and I don't have a clue where to start. We would like a patio in the corner that gets the last bit of sun.

It is north west facing so largely gets the sun from about 9am - 7 pm but in different parts through the day.

I'm not sure what your question is. If you are not sure where to put your deck, you could take some chairs out and have trial for a few weeks until you find the spot that you enjoy the most. Then you can do some testing with blocks to see what size suits you. If you want to plant things, they say you have to start with the trees/shrubs. Take into account their mature size and shade level when planting them. Look at gardens around you and note what you like. Make sure the plants you choose can thrive in your garden (soil, light, pests).
