It's happened too many times now to be the clothes... its only four years old, could something be faulty with the water temperature control thing?

do you use a tumble drier?

Who connected it? Is it possible that it was connected to the hot water feed - this solved a mystery for me recently!

No tumble dryer, and dh connected it so is about to go and check...

No, definitely the cold water.

Any ideas?

What temperature do you wash at?
And what materials are the clothes made of?

Cotton & Viscose shrink so always expect cotton T shirts & jumpers, for example, to shrink. Allow for that when you buy. Polyester, polycotton doesn't shrink.

Also don't dry the clothes over a hot radiator.

Also - I know nothing about ironing but could that be a problem?
