Quality of painting

I've just got back to flat after being away while having decorators in.

I'm really not happy with the standard of the work, but want to check AIBU?

The walls in the hallway have bumps and raised patches where it's been filled. Some of the walls that were newly skimmed have an uneven texture to the paint. Where there are two different colours joining on two walls, the line between them isn't quite straight all the way down.

They still have a lot to finish off - the woodwork etc. But I'm quite worried that the parts they say are 'done' just don't have a professional finish.

Am I being too much of a perfectionist? Or if this is substandard work, what should I do about it/say too them?

So disappointing. Here sat waiting for them - they're half an hour late - and trying not to get too wound up.

YANBU. The bits that have been filled should not be obvious. If there is an uneven texture to the walls that have been skimmed it suggests that they didn't do a sealing coat (half paint/half water).

I'd be annoyed too, have they already been paid?

I paid a 20 percent deposit but the rest is outstanding.

The walls where you can see the patches - they're saying that it's because of the poor quality of the walls. But if that's the case, why didn't they suggest skimming them? And you can see small bubbles in the paint.

For the newly skimmed wall with the rough texture, they said that's the roller and they will redo. But why did they use that roller?

So exhausted by the whole thing, tempted to tell them to just get it finished off to whatever finish they can ... But this was meant to be the one time I get everything looking decorated and finished

I'd be keeping some of that money until I was happy with the finish but understand how frustrating it is and that you just want it done.

I had almost exact issue when our flat was painted. Down to them claiming they'd done the agreed two coats when I knew for a fact they'd only done one (as I was in our flat at the time). I had to get tough and angry with the main guy and eventually he came round and put it right himself. It still wasn't 100% perfect, but at least it was better.
