Extension and flooring

So we are planning to extend our lounge/diner. Currently we have engineered oak flooring which is glued down to the concrete subfloor. The planks are laid pointing in the direction of the extension (if that makes sense), and are slightly offset from each other.

DH seems to think we may need to replace the whole flooring in the room, which makes me want to cry as it was very expensive. I was wondering if anyone had had luck in prying up part of the flooring without damaging the adjacent planks?
