Please help me find a one bed flat for £210k!

I'm recently single (and childless) and would really like to buy (having rented for years with ex-DP) I have a budget of about £210,000.

I need to be able to drive to work in uxbridge and have easy public transport access to central London. I need parking.

I've really fancied a new build because I won't have money to do any big renovations and I fancy something easy, modern etc and most I've seen have been quite roomy compared to older flats.

I could stretch to more on a new build if I used the governments help to buy scheme.

Can you help find me a one bed flat please?!?!

And I am sorry - this is so much less fun than the threads asking for help with the £3m budgets! WinkGrin

I'm going to take this deathly silence as confirmation of what I already knew - it's impossible!

I'm not sure I even want to borrow that much. It would be a lot of my take home.

Harefield any good? Walkable to Denham station (chiltern line to Marylebone), lots of buses to Uxbridge (U9 I think but could be wrong. One bedroom maisonette on right move for 169k - not a new build but it's a start!

OMG House prices there are mad. My mum lives in one of the nicest areas around here. Hugely popular and her neighbours 4 bed semi just sold for £210k

I live in a gorgeous modern flat in a lovely area, my neighbours just sold for £74k

House prices down south are horrific I'd hate to be house hunting there

I'll have a look at harefield. Don't know that train line. Thank you

Yes, prices are high. Smile

I don't know the area very well but have a friend who lives in Rickmansworth. What about Watford? 30 mins drive to Uxbridge and you can get the train from Watford Junction to Euston on a fast in about 20 mins.

This caught my eye - not new build but fresh looking and has underground parking: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-48411236.html

I'd suggest looking at some stations along the Crossrail route - lots of new builds and a short drive/bus to Uxbridge along the Western end.

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47846477.html Newish flats near Wembley Park/Neasdon, allocated parking. £209950.

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34730724.html new build off plan near the new West Drayton Crossrail. £219995

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-47969896.html Sudbury town. £205k

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-48612751.html Southall (crossrail). £209950

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-50891836.html Hayes. £200k

I must not know London as well as I thought because I thought Uxbridge itself would be cheaper than somewhere like Neasden?

OP, where do you actually want to live round there - are you near there already?

depositdonut · 21/07/2015 14:27

Crossrail would be great but not sure about west drayton and hayes as the new third runway at heathrow will be on the doorstep! West drayton better though I think although those flats launched beginning of June so probably snapped up by now

So so many places in that sort of price range are cash buyers only or need major refurb. Or they're flats agents are leaving up despite having sold three years ago.... Hmm

I don't live round there now but am looking to move. I know outer North west London fairly well. Best location would be ruislip/pinner/eastcote. Saw some new builds in uxbridge at the new St. Andrews development but they've gone quickly. Cheapest was £280k but most about £320k+

Wondering if I should move further away but with a great train line within a stones throw

Enquires about some flats on RightMove in Maidenhead but obviously theyve all gone...

I second Watford or South Oxhey. We lived there for nearly a year so my DH could commute to Central London while I worked in Uxbridge (though I never did go back to work in the end, post maternity leave).
My brother owns a one bed flat there that has just been valued at about £180k.
I think South Oxhey is not thought of as a good area? But we never had any trouble there and that probably makes it more affordable!

This one looks really nice however I'm not sure how close to London it is. [[Dock Head Road, Chatham, Kent ME4 4ZL

Anywhere round Hounslow might work on your budget - Feltham has good transport links. Or there was a new development being built near Hayes and Harlington station a while ago, which has fast trains to Paddington via Ealing Broadway.

Hobbes8 · 21/07/2015 14:46

Or keep an eye on this South Ruislip development, if it ever gets off the ground:

Crazy - thanks for the idea but that's a two hour drive in the morning (or two and a bit journey by public transport)

Happy to commute about 45 mins by car I guess, an hour all in by public transport

This one is also nice? around 40 minutes on the train to London Waterloo. [[Otter Drive, Carshalton, Surrey, SM5

crazyauntie · 21/07/2015 15:38

Although my maps are saying its about 55mins drive from Uxbridge?

achieve15 · 21/07/2015 15:45

OP, I just put a search in zoopla for properties within 3 miles of Uxbridge and quite a few came up at that price?
