How much to retile a small bathroom?

How much would you expect to pay to get a very small bathroom retiled? It's about 6ft x 4ft, full tiled floor to ceiling on two walls, partly tiled in other walls (allowing for door, loo and sink). Builder has quoted about £1400 inc removing old tiles and supply of new tiles, which seems crazy expensive.

How high is your ceiling? How much are the tiles psm and what is the builder's day rate and how long has he said the job will take?

If you are not changing the suite, then taking the tiles off will need to be done carefully to avoid scratching any other surfaces and is it just replacing the tiles or will the bath and shower need re-sealing? It's a bigger job than you probably realise.

Having just bought 28sqm of tiles having shopped around, they were expensive enough on their own. Our bathroom is a bit bigger than yours, with high ceilings.

We have a small bathroom and our tiler charged £450 for full walls around the bath/shower, and the rest of the walls half height. We bought our own tiles and prepared the walls ourselves and the job was cash in hand and took 3 full days to do. Our tiles were probably more expensive and we live in Scotland if that makes a difference.
