Our beautiful grade ii listed windows need some tlc so I'm planning to sand, prime and re-paint them over the summer. They're just plain white so will match the colour pretty easily. I'm tempted to do the front door while I'm at it. It's a fairly garish shade and I wondered if I could go for the same colour but a slightly more subtle shade - would anyone notice? Are you supposed to apply for consent just to change the shade of a colour slightly or is it for more major changes? In my opinion something less bright would look much better and more in keeping anyway but I appreciate good taste isn't always best in terms of listings!!
