Best masonry paint?

We need to paint the outside of our house this year as it's looking shabby and I want a good paint that will withstand a lot- we are on a hillside overlooking the sea so the winters will be harsh.

We're dh is wanting a yellow colour, so any advice would come in handy as it's so expensive!

I asked my painter this question - he said the best advice is to get it done professionally as they go over the finish first - see the possible problems and deal with them first - ie fill gaps - finish rough bits - then prime - then paint etc etc - he said he uses trade paints from Brewers as he feels they are better - but the secret is to prep well first which ever paint you use !
