Under stairs toilet

Just looking to find out how much roughly it would be to install an under the stairs toilet. We live in a London mid terrace 3 bed Victorian house. The soil pipe would have to travel under the hall (1 meter approx) then under a portion of the kitchen (1.5 meter approx) to reach the external waste pipes. I have no man hole covers in my side return, is this a problem? There is a consumer/fuse box unit, gas and electricity meter in the cupboard already. Judging by what I've already read, I can box these in so long as we can still access them. Moving them is not an option as I understand this is very expensive. Also what do people think of the toilet which has the sink integrated into the top of the toilet cistern, a gimmick or useful? Is there anything else I need to be thinking about?

We've just had an under stairs cloakroom put in (alongside new kitchen). The soil pipe runs under the floorboards, under the kitchen and into the side return. It was all very straightforward and looks really nice - we got a compact loo and sink for space saving reasons and they're great. We were a little worried beforehand that the space would be just too small but it's worked fine.

It might be hard to split up the costs from what the kitchen cost but if you had to guess how much of the budget did the under stair loo bit cost? Also where did you buy your compact loo? Howcanitbe, measurements of cupboard to follow.

I think those toilets with built in sink are a bloody good idea - loos with no sink in are actually disgusting. If you can't fit a proper sink, the toilet with sink is better than being a grim person who doesn't wash their hands, or bringing all your poo germs to the kitchen tap. If there's any room for a regular sink, I'd prefer that because I suspect you'd get a lot of dripped water on the toilet seat on the toilet with sink.

Not sure of cost but we have a small toilet and the best part is having tiny sink with storage cupboard underneath, like this

It means even in a small space you have somewhere for space toilet roll/ few nappies/ sanitary things/ space hand towel rolled up. Takes up no more space than same size sink just wall mounted

Thanks for all your replies, I would definitely not put a toilet in without a sink and sianihedgehog I also have the concern about the dripping water onto the toilet seat issue with the integrated sink/toilet unit.

I have measured the space. It's 900mm wide approx and 2400mm long but obviously it's not all usable space re height. And we still have the issue of the boxing in stealing space from the width at certain points.

We bought this suite from Victorian Plumbing here. It fits brilliantly.

Overall, the cost of the under stairs loo, building wise, was about £2000.

Hi there I sourced a 460mm projection wc and placed the back to the wall unit in the remainder of the under stair cupboard then built the wall. This meant it was away from the fuse board too. I also sourced a micro basin and ran the fired earth tiles from the hall into the cloakroom, can pm you the supplier if you want. Pictures are a bit rubbish but you get the just! Good luck!

I built an understairs toilet in my last house (sorry too long ago to remember the cost and part of a much bigger build).

I put in a small corner basin that stuck out further so it was a really good size and I put the concealed cistern in the cupboard behind the toilet that was left under the stairs which freed up plenty of space to put in a basin like this. Effectively the only thing in the room was the actual toilet pan and a sink (wall cupboard for toilet rolls etc)

The cistern is behind the wall under the last little bit of understairs - also works becasue you don;t need as much head room to sit on a toilet!

Yes, to confirm cistern is buried into the wall and we build a shelf and cover panel using left over white gloss panels from the kitchen
