Our NDN it the attached semi is currently having building work done. Hd didn't need planning permission as he was effectively replacing the conservatory with an extension so utilising the same foot print.
We signed the party wall agreement as we had something similar done last year, although we did need planning permission as our conservatory was smaller and we were increasing the extension to the same size as his conservatory.
We went for a pitched roof but he has opted for a flat roof. According to the plans this was going to be similar in height to the existing flat roof on the other part of the existing extension.
However, the new flat roof is significantly higher and the parapet wall, which was only going to be raised at one end, has been raised all of the way along. Ig looks ugly and high.
I think the roof is higher as he has had the steel put in in the space above the ceiling (void) which I don't think is as per the original plans.
I feel upset that the roof is so domineering and he didn't need planning permission to do this. Is this right? If we had realised it would look like this and not like the plans, then we would have asked for a party wall surveyor to be involved.
Any advice greatly received. Thanks.
