Buying a shared garden

I'm interested in buying part of our shared garden for our block of flats. At the moment each of the 4 freeholders has an equal share of ownership of the entire garden. Its one big communal garden just now, but we would like to buy and make a private area for our DCs to play in that we can fence off for safety.

Before I approach the neighbours, and face their judgement, just wondering if anyone has successfully done this? Any advice? Any pitfalls I should know of?

Have you done a search? There was a very similar thread from the neighbours perspective a little while ago

I was ideally looking for some pointers from someone who had managed to do it successfully.

If I recall, the other thread was a big fat no but I'll go back to see why everyone was so against it
