Relocating - mortgage

Have also posted in money. We are looking to relocate to an area a couple of hours away. If we try to buy whilst in current jobs, will the lender query the location? Or will they just assume we are prepared to do lengthy commutes? Thanks

The lender won't care where you're house is, as long as you can afford the loan repayments.

You'll get queries about the cost of your commute under affordability though.

True

Santander have been a real pain, asking how DH will commute, train, extra petrol costs, will he do it for ever, need a new job etc etc. All totally pointless are we're already renting in new location and obviously a new house & mortgage would be much cheaper!

Sunny they probably want to be sure you aren't going to let it out.

Yes, we have just been through this. The lender will ask questions about your commuting costs. Fair enough really.
