Has anyone got the Marlborough bath from Victoria & Albert?

Is it comfy?

We're having our bathrooms redone and I fancy one of these for my bathroom. It looks lovely, in keeping with the style of house and the rest of the room but I'm worried that it won't be very comfortable because it's so upright at the sides and I won't be able to recline comfortably.

Can you go and sit in one in a showroom? They'll be used to people doing this and, frankly, how else are you going to find out?

I have the V & A Richmond which looks to have a similar slope, if the pictures are anything to go by. Whilst mine looks lovely, it's really not very comfortable because the slope is not deep enough. Also, it was ridiculously expensive and has been used about 10 times in 5 years. In hindsight, I would have bought a less expensive bath and spent the money on something else.

Possibly. The bathroom designer we're using has loads of baths on display but not this one. Grr. I'll have a look. Thanks, wow

mine, thank you. We do bathe a lot (DH daily, me 4-5 x a week), so the bath (whichever one we go for) will get used regularly. Hence why it's important that it is comfy. Bugger, I was hoping someone would come on and reassure me that it felt as fab as it looked Sad but realistically, I don't see how it can with a 12% incline.

Slightly off topic, but I stayed at a fab hotel recently which had a fantastic Victoria and Albert bath (freestanding, but unfortunately not the same one as yours OP). I've been coveting one since, but I'm too scared to phone up and find out just how scarily expensive they are.

Anyone care to clue me in?

Can't quite remember, Dory, but mine was about €1000 five years ago. The global recession may have driven the price down though. Also, everything is more expensive here than in the UK.

Pricey - but the one I bathed in was lovely . Thanks Mine

The Marlborough is about £1800

But I suppose it depends on where you get it from.

We have the Monaco. I find it very comfortable, but I am only 5' so like the upright position as it stops me slipping down. Our problem is the house is 15/16 century and has sloping floors, therefore to make the bath sit straight it has to have a 1" wedge under it which rather spoils its flush to the floor lines.
