What colour kitchen floor tiles?

We're putting in an Ikea Bodbyn off-white kitchen, with oak countertops and save green walls. Can anyone recommend a floor colour? I'm totally stumped...thanks.

Your kitchen sounds like my new one is going to be; I think I'm going to go for something like this --->

Currently I've got white gloss, iroko tops and grey walls with a charcoal tile effect vinyl on the floor which is nice but I fancy a bit of a change!

I don't care, but have grey grout, not white, which will always look dirty.

Thanks PistolAnnie, that looks nice.

Cheers PigletJohn for letting me know you don't care HmmWink

I would go for large or mixed format, limestone look-alike. We have these and they add a bit of interest to a large kitchen. I bought them from my local tile shop, but lots of suppliers have them. They do not show dirt all the time and look just like the real stone, but half the price. Grey grout is vile and would not suit your kitchen, in my opinion. You can clean lighter coloured grout with a Karcher steam cleaner. Easy to do and looks way better with a paler floor. Grey grout is for grey tiles (eg slate) which show lots of spills.

I would also suggest not riven tiles. They trap dirt and are definitely more difficult to clean with a mop. I always like the Porcelanosa larger format tiles and they have loads that look a bit like stone and are non slip.

I had a stone coloured grout, which looked good - agree with not white.

Flat not bumpy tiles. My bumpy ones are impossible to clean!

I would go for dark grey tiles and grey grout.

Is it a modern house? What flooring do you have leading to the kitchen?
