PAX shallow wardrobes

I am looking at getting PAX wardrobes and I saw some shallow ones which can fit on the wall with chimney in our bedroom. They are 35cm deep.

Do you have any of those and are they good (deep enough) to store folded t-shirts, jeans, bedding etc? I am worried that they are too shallow and either doors wont close properly or clothes will fall off when I open the door.

We have two in our smallest bedroom. They are roomier than you'd think - perhaps best suited to children's clothes if using the pull out hanging rail, but for folded things or small stuff like underwear the shelves, pull out baskets and skubb cubes are bigger than you'd think.

I am also going to buy one 1m full depth and 1 corner PAX as well so these shallow ones will be mostly for bags, shoes, folded clothes and small stuff.

Are pull out baskets ok for daily use?

Perfect - I also have them in a full size Pax wardrobe and you can fit lots in.

Thanks. I will have a look at them when I go to IKEA next time. I was planning to get all full depth but after measuring the room width, only shallow ones will fit on that wall.

Any feedback about sliding vs hinged doors especially the ones with mirror for 236cm height.

I have a lot of Pax and a shallow depth one too. They are fantastic, interior fittings last years and are cheap.

My sons have had Pax wardrobes since they were born, so lots of door slamming (should have got soft close hinges) eldest is now 12 so they have lasted well including dismantling for house moves.

We have hinged doors including the heavy mirrored ones but ours are the shorter 201cm high ones as we live in houses with lower ceilings.

We have drawers not baskets just because they can take more weight. Remember if you are having hinged doors to look out for where the hinges go as depending on what you get basket/drawer wise it may interfere with your plan.

Drawers have runners on the bottom so they cannot go right at the bottom of the wardrobe as that is where the hinge will go, basket runners are at the top of the basket so they can go at the bottom.

I don't know if it is still the case but the mirrored door hinges are out of line with the normal door hinges. I count the number of holes when planning a new layout inside the wardrobe and I know that the mirrored ones are one hole out.

It is worth taking the time to see how many holes a drawer takes up etc meaning you know if you can change the layout at a later date.

Bedroom ceiling height is 250 cm. Can we can build a 236cm wardrobe on floor and stand it up after building or do we need to build it upright?

The online Pax planner won't let you add fittings that don't work with the hinge placement. We have the very tallest wardrobes in our room and there is about 5 inches of space from the top to the ceiling. I have no idea what DP did when he built them.

Work well for us, we have 3 , one fitted out with 2 pull out rails side by side for DH's shirts with shelves underneath which we use for jeans. 1 with shelves, good for t-shirts, shorts and a 2 trouser rails above each other. 3rd one has 6 small baskets for socks, knickers, tights etc. with shelves above. We also have a double normal depth unit for my clothes and a set of drawers. We opted for sliding doors and lighting above.

It took years to solve wardrobe issue in our small oddly shaped bedroom, works fantastically.

I'll measure our ceiling height, but we managed to build on floor and rotate them upwards and we have a pretty low ceiling.

Just checked, our gap from top to ceiling is 15.5cm. I can't remember it being tight. You could work it out mathematically, but I'm not quite sure how. But what you could do before you start construction, is to rotate one of the side panels.

How much space I should leave between wardrobe front and bed for hinged doors. I am thinking 50cm+40cm minimum needed as doors are 50cm and may be 40cm for me to stand in front of wardrobe. I wish I was slimmer

Anyone have lower gap between wardrobe front and bed?

I like hinged doors but if it wont fit, I will have to go for sliding doors.
