Should I be worried?

We were waiting for a landscape gardener to come and quote and he just called to say he has to go and sort out another job with his colleagues who have a burst pipe on the driveway they were putting in. Is this a simple mistake or (as I suspect) more likely a sign that they aren't very good? We are struggling to find someone to do our work but at the same time, we want someone competent!

They problem with any job that involves digging into the ground, particularly in front driveways where there are all sorts of services laid below the surface, is there is always a potential to hit something. However much care is taken, sometimes it will happen. It is an accident and not a sign they are no good (although if they frequently damage pipes it could be - assuming a one off)
