If you have had a home extension and live in an older house (particularly 30s-80s) did you have asbestos testing done before walls were knocked down? Is this worth doing?

the only place we have asbestos checked was on some artexing done on walls and ceilings from the 1980's. Haven't heard of doing it as a general th ing unless there is some reason to suspect?

We bought an 1950's bungalow, survey suggested asbestos so we paid for an asbestos survey £250 + vat.
Turns out it was everywhere (no artex in the house funnily though) floors , shed, soffit boards....cost £6000 to remove properly & took 6/7 days.

House is a wreck never had a central hearing system etc so we werent living in it thankfully! Still aren't but that's a whole other thread.
