Bedrooms: saxony, loop or twist?

Arrrrrggg! Loop looks so much nicer. But really worried about uncomfortable scratchy carpets in kids bedrooms. I grew up with soft plush saxony carpets but I just don't like the look so much. Anyone else had this quandary for kids rooms?

Secondly, how to prevent black edges who you have pale carpets in draft old Victorian houses? Sealing edges with silicon??

Hi

Kids rooms? BERBER every time, pref loop or loop/twist mix
AND it's not too expensive.... Don't forget the underlay!

As a long-time sufferer of carpet edge blacking, there is only one solution.

The blackening comes from draughts at the edges blowing up dust from under the floorboards.

You must lay a membrane of sorts down to prevent the draughts (it will also serve as a great insulator and keep your house toasty)

Look for some garden weed membrane and lay it around the outside, up to the edges and staple it down with a staplegun. Just 12" width is fine.

Works everytime

Good luck

Thank you! I am onto my friendly carpet fitter as we speak. Huge help, much appreciated.
