Tiling finishing off in bathroom

Hi there

Just coming to the end of our bathroom renovation. It's taken weeks (7!), due to the plumber spinning out the job as I think he had nothing to go to.

Anyway, it seems he did finally get another job because he suddenly started rushing through all the last minute jobs and made a massive mess of the silicone, which I think can make or break a bathroom.

Anyway, to cut to the chase. We have pale blue metro tiles on the walls (white grout) that go down to the floor where they meet limestone tiles, grouted with dark grey grout (again, another decision plumber made without really consulting us). He applies a thick splodgy layer of white silicone where the tiles joined, but it looked awful and I asked him to remove it. What should I put in its place to look neat, clean and to hide the join which isn't as seamless as it should be. Grey silicone, done well? Not sure what the other options are as skirting boards would stick out...

Please help me fellow mumsnetters!

Thanks, in advance

I think either colour of silicone would be fine - just use frog tape to get a lovely finish. Tape out lines, apply silicone, smooth. Wait five minutes, remove tape, beautiful straight finish.
