who should I get to do my kitchen?

Ideally we'd like to move house in the next year or so but would have to do something about our kitchen before we could sell, we used to have a dog and she trashed the floor, the doors and worktops also need replacing. Don't want to spend too much as we don't see ourselves here long term but it needs to look nice enough to sell and we'd like to enjoy it if we can't afford to move as soon as we'd like to. Where would people recommend buying from or steering clear of? Got a quote from a good local joiner but it was extortionate sadly.

What was the quote from your local joiner?

5.5k for just doors, worktops, hob and extractor, all fitted.

Wow, that does sound a lot, at least to me. How many doors is that, what size worktop?

If you have an itemised breakdown, then you can compare what's available online to see if it will actually work out better value.

There are replacement door companies, and companies that will cut a worktop to your spec. Would you be able to fit them yourselves?

They didnt give an itemised breakdown. 8 doors, 7 drawers, 7.5m of worktops. Definitely couldn't fit ourselves! Wondering about ikea...

We just ordered custom sized doors and drawers from here,www.kitchenandbedroomdoors.co.uk/ you specify door sizes where you want the hole drilled for hinges we got got 13 doors, 11 drawers fronts, for the doors hinge holes drilled, 26 hinges with 13 soft closers all delivered in about 10 days for under £600 pounds. Found them a good company to deal with. HTH

We also got 8m of worktops and 2.1m breakfast bar and composite sink delivered for just over £500. A friend helped with worktop but we did the doors and drawers ourselves,

seb that company has a big range of choices! What did you choose, and if you would share any pics, that would be great.

Thinking of ordering a sample door from them.

I got warsaw in hornschurch white, I really like it. We got handles from Ikea and you can buy a template to help position them. I actually got the premier slab as my sample door but didn't like the edge bevel so went for the warsaw. We measured the exact hinge location on the old doors and swapping to the new hinges was easy, if you want to knew anything else just ask.

Also you can order free colour samples before you pick your door so you can then get your sample door in the colour you want. They also do cover panels and pelmets etc, we also got 3 lots of pelmet in our order.

Thanks everyone. We are not at all handy and have a small child and baby so no time or skills to do any of it ourselves so need a company who could do it for us. Any ideas?
