Hi,

I purchase a new build shared ownership flat 14 months ago. The other day I came home to find that the kitchen and living room laminate floor was lifting up, when I pressed down on it I could see a glisten of water.

My housing association sent round emergency plumbers who discovered the infill valve to my washing machine was leakin . They tightened it and left. The floor is ruined and the entirity of the kitchen and living room.requires replacement.

My housing association are claiming that the damage was a faulty white good and that I should be pulling out my washing machine and tightening valves as part of regular maintenance. My home insurer is saying that it's an installation issue that should he dealt with under the nbh guarantee.

I feel it's the builders responsibility as the valve must have been dripping for a very long time to soak into the floor in such a way that it was damaged from.the bottom up. A gushing leak would have made itself known on the surface and yet the damage to my floors extends for about 15 square metres.

Is anyone experienced in these matters and able to offer me some advice one where this fault may legally lie?

Thanks!
