Can I use my savings to rent?

I am selling my house and splitting profits with my ex, I will need a 3 bed house to rent for a year or 2. My salary is just below the wages given but I have 2 months rent & deposit saved and will have proof of exchange and money I will be getting, which is a large amount. Will that be enough?

I don't see why not, but just ask. I think you may be asked to pay several months rent upfront if your salary isn't quite what they have stated (I didn't know this happened btw).

We did this when my DH was made redundant - he had a large redundancy payout but limited current income. We had to pay 6 months rent upfront plus the deposit

Ok, thanks

Hi I'm in exactly the same situation...I was asked for SIX months rent up front as my salary is actually less than the rent. So I have used my savings. I reckon it's at the discretion of the landlord so all you can do is ask? Good luck

Thanks and good luck with your move, it's all so bloody stressful!

It sure is. Good luck to you too. I will be so glad to get out of sharing with my ex but selling the family home and dealing with all this stuff is hard. I'm moving on Wednesday fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed!
