Talk to me about ovens esp combination oven/grill/microwave

My partner's really keen to install a neff hide and slide oven in our new kitchen and we were going to pair it up with a second combination oven/grill/microwave.

But I am shocked at the price of the NEF combination oven and wondered whether they are worth it and whether we should save our money and just get a micro/oven which is much more reasonable. Any experience or advice?

You can download the owner's manual and read up in a bit more detail. I have just had one delivered as it about the only microwave I found with a right hand hinge. Unfortunately I can't say how it works as it won't be installed in or other house for a couple of months. Crosses fingers and marks thread hopefully.

I have one (Bosch not Neff) and it's really useful, great having an extra oven for cooking Xmas dinner or dishes that require oven and grill at the same time. I've had it 13 years and it was expensive but I use it a lot. Depends how much cooking/entertaining you do.

I have a Sharp combination oven, the grill dries stuff a bit and the high (rotational) shelf is too high for some stuff, the low one too low, things on the non turntable shelf have to be moved round.
The oven is a bit over optimistic on the temperature but absolutely fabulous as an actual combination cooker (microwaving and baking simultaneously.
Tray bakes were a total PITA as I had to take them out and turn them round halfway through, causing sinkage. But cakes cooked in Pyrex on combi good.
I went for this one as it was the biggest I could find and my last one died the day after the guarantee ran out.
I have destroyed a few microwave oven only containers, by forgetting and trying to brown stuff.
Suggest you buy lots of Pyrex

having same dilemma! I don't want a microwave on the worktop but don't have room to have double oven and microwave built in so its micro/oven combi thingy or microwave in the utility room which would be a PITA and I don't really want it on there in the worktop either!

I didn't really want a microwave on the work surface, but 3 successive microwaves blowing up a month after 2 y warranty expiry (including v expensive Panasonic) meant that I wasn't prepared to pay as much as combination micro cost. so I kept my old inexpensive micro on the surface but bought a pair of neffs side by side. Cheaper & proving more useful to me already (cooked 8 Pizzas at once when ds arrived with a huge bunch of friends )

I wondered about buying a different but cheaper make of a micro/oven/grill and put it alongside the neff main oven?

can you mix your makes or will the design differences really stand out?

I have a Neff microwave combination oven and two other ovens. The Neff is very good and does the job. They are not cheap but definitely more versatile. Getting a very good standard oven would be important to me too. What is special about the hide and slide?

My DP has craved one since he saw them on Great British Bake-Off. but he also says that it makes it easier to clean as you can get closer, makes it easier to get things out and i think he's right as we want to put the ovens in cupboard rather than under the counter.

do you use all the functions or could you get away with a combi microwave?
