I don't suppose anyone knows of a decent builder who could do this at a decent rate do they?

I've had one quote and to rip up a tiled floor (don't ask), rip out built in wardrobes, strip wallpaper, remove coving, extend skirting and replaster the walls, they quoted 3,000 plus VAT. Feels a bit steep to me...
So I was hoping to get another quote but I have only just moved here and I don't know anyone to get recommendations from

Can you not do all that (bar the replastering) yourself?

If you hire someone who can plaster to do the first part they'll likely charge their usual day rate (and fair enough too) which will be higher than what you actually need - which is basically just a bod or two with healthy bones and basic DIY skills. Agree that you could do it yourself bar the plastering, but if you don't want to, just look for a decent handyman type in your area.

Tell them to be careful removing the paper as you'd like to preserve the plaster if possible. Then you can have a look at it and get a plasterer if you need to.

My neighbours used a company called tylers, south london borders of
Kent based havent got the details to hand, but wil post soon as I can, they were happy with them, also know a good plasterer, tend to agree with pp though, would be easy enough to do yourselves, & just get plasterer in.
