Conservatory roof blinds

We had a conservatory built late last year with a full glass roof and are finding the heat out there unbearable (south facing garden)

I have had 2 quotes for blinds to be fitted and the quotes are in excess of £3K . Is this about right? Or does anyone have any other solutions to the problem? Thank you.

I have just been looking at a company called blinds2go online which seem a lot more reasonable and easy to fit- haven't bought any yet so can't say whether any good or not but might be worth a look.

We bought a house with a south facing conservatory and paid about £3k for roof blinds. It made some difference, but not as much as we hoped, so in the end we had the conservatory knocked down and a proper extension built. Bliss.

One of my friends rigged up a weird piece of fabric across her conservatory roof. Cheap as chips but looked deadful. And her conservstory was still boiling....

Tbh, Im not sure there's much you can do about a conservatory that faces south. Even with our horribly expensive blinds it quite often topped 50C on a sunny day Confused

I have a South facing conservatory and it is scorchingly hot in there on sunny days. I'd been wondering about trying to make blinds but maybe now i won't bother!

I've used blinds2go before to buy curtains and blinds made to size and they're very good. I've not seen their conservatory blinds but I'd be happy to recommend them on the back of what I have had - a Roman blind, a roller blind and a pair of eyelet topped curtains.

Not worth it. Look at putting a 'proper' roof on. We did. Worth every penny.
