Yes. We had a 'built-under' oven in our last house. with a separate hob (gas) above. They are smaller (height) than 'built-in' ovens.

& you can put a hob above it?

I think my problems are solved!!

I need additional help please

How much clearance do you need between the hob & the oven?

How much clearance do you need from the floor?

You would need a housing unit, like a cupboard carcass, to fit the oven into. And I'm not sure how you would fit the hob, it normally gets fitted into the worktop.

KatyMac · 11/04/2015 17:25

Well I thought so too but the one I saw had legs......

I know I cut a hole in the worksurface to drop the hob in but I think I need some sort of shelf support too - but I'm not sure what

Get a kitchen fitter to do it!!! It will be an expensive mistake otherwise! My under counter oven is in a frame and the top of the frame supports the hob. The hole is cut into the granite for the hob. I have a pan drawer under the oven which is part of the oven housing. I think this is the conventional way of doing it.

If it's an oven and separate grill or second oven that's designed to go under worktop (720 height on 150 adjustable legs ) unless it's very unusual - it won't need a carcase - it sits between them. If it's a true double oven - they are meant for use in a tall housing and they are too tall to fit under the worktop. And not designed for use like that.
For clearance info - I need to see a plan ( I'm on app ?!) to see which bit you mean really ...
If you pm me I can safety check your plan for you if you like !

KatyMac · 11/04/2015 18:38

I haven't got a plan - I have a hole in my beautifully refitted kitchen where my broken cooker went

& I want a double oven with both doors that fold down not open sideways & I can't find a cooker like that

so I am grasping at straws but the oven I was looking at was something like this which had little adjustable legs in the shop (well at least I think it was that one)

Yup - That's designed to go between the cabinets either side of the oven space ! Is it cabinetry either side - not appliances ?!

KatyMac · 11/04/2015 20:54

Yep - rather nice deep (800 wide) drawers I spent half my budget on.....

So do I just slot the hob over it & get a bit of (I can't think of the word - filler panel) to run from the worksurface down?

You will need to insert some worktop - perhaps go for a change of surface - ie wood if you have granite or vice versa - so it looks deliberate ! The oven should fit underneath the worktop with no filler - by adjusting the plinth to match the existing.

KatyMac · 11/04/2015 22:48

I was thinking of a contrasting colour actually

So would there need to be a space between the over & the hob - I assume some sort of gap?

Thanks btw the chaps at Curry's thought I was mad!
