Funny shaped light switch...

Can anyone help me find a single, on/off (not dimmer) light switch that fits a double width box in the wall? I really really don't want to change the box if I can avoid it!!

Why not just use a double switch but only have one of the switches actually wired in?

You need to search for 'rectangular wall plate'

get a gridswitch.

They can be assembled to accommodate several switches, and the plate can have the unused positions blanked off. You will need an electrician but he will understand what I mean.

however many modern energy-saving lamps do not work with dimmers, or need a unique type of dimmer for that particular type of lamp, so decide what lamp you are going to use before getting a switch assembled.

You could also possibly have a switch mounted on a 2-module blank plate, but you would need a competent electrician to safely assemble it for you.

oops, you don't need a dimmer (good)

Gridswitches also come as on/off, 2-way and intermediate.

Thanks piglet john...that's what we found - and why we need to get rid of existing dimmer! Was just hoping for something prettier!!

Btw I don't know if this has ever been answered but where are you based and are you ever available for building/decorating etc? Pm me if you would rather!

Shame! But all the help you give here is much appreciated - thank you!
