IKEA kitchens - custom doors?

Hi, am still narrowing down kitchen options but am getting more and more sold on an IKEA kitchen. Has anyone purchased one but then bought custom doors? Can you recommend a good company? Thank you!

Why did you want custom doors out of interest?

FatherHenderson · 02/04/2015 22:24

We did that. It looks great

Depends what sort of doors you want, I bought some MDF wardrobe doors for painting from CJF trading, they've come up very nice and millimetre accurate. Obviously you have all your matching plinths panels and trims to source as well.

Thanks, just want to make it a bit different and really fancy an in frame style. Also keen on a pale green colour. FatherHenderson where did you get yours from? RaisingSteam thanks for the link!

Could always get the doors with the IKEA kitchen and then opt for custom painting? Cheap and completely free to creativity with colours and styles.

In frame will mean totally different smaller width drawers - unless you get a door that looks like it's in frame but opens as one piece ... There's a company called Landau that supply doors and wooden drawer boxes to suit but it's not cheap !
Not sure if they do the ikea length doors as standard - so each one would be a special - so would cost even more !

Here's a link - www.landau.uk.com/products/brooklands/
They do lay on doors as well as in frame ! Beautiful quality!

Sorry yes to clarify I meant the ones that open as one piece but looks like in frame - hence no problems with reduced capacity/opening angle. Howdens do one but their kitchen price was $$$

In the April/May Home Style magazine, there's a customised Ikea kitchen made to look in-frame and painted (p20/21.) Very nice looking job. In the article, she said she bought kitchen and doors in ikea and got a carpenter to build a frame around them.
