Bigger than planning

3 storey extension near me is currently being built. Found plans online but it seems taller than plans. Windows built appear higher than drawings especially in relation to existing windows shown on plan. Scale on that plan 1:50. What can be done? Does anyone check?

If you have any concerns then you need to contact the planning department - they will have an enforcement team who will come out and check that things are being done correctly. Alternatively you could contact your local councillor (details should be on the Council website) who could raise it for you.
If the thing is not being built in accordance with the plans, there are several routes for the Council to follow. They could aske for revised plans to be submitted showing what is being built. These would be considered as a normal application and if refused they would have the right of appeal. The Council can start enforcement proceedings at any stage to require that they revert to the original design. Again the applicants have a right of appeal against this.
Rarely, but if the Council consider that the revisions are sooo bad, that they would never grant permission for them, they may issue a stop notice which means building has to stop immediately.
