Hi All,

Hoping some of your Mumsnet wisdom can help me choose my flooring. Currently building a kitchen/dinning room extension. We want the same flooring throughout the kitchen & dining areas as it is small space & using 1 material will create a bigger sense of space. We are leaning towards a wood floor with a smoked/oiled finish. I'm worried about its durability in a kitchen space. Does anyone have any experience of this type of wooden floor. Would you recommend? What are the drawbacks/advantages? How easy is to clean? How does it wear?

(PS I've looked at Pergo/Quick step laminates and I'm sold on their durability but not on their appearance)I really do want wood but I don't want a kitchen floor that is not suitable. Help!

Do you have a utility room? We removed our wood flooring in the kitchen as every time we had to move washing machine or dishwasher it got damaged. It looked good and we would of kept if we had a separate utility. It did get scratched but then I like wood that does not look perfect.
