New sofa- help me decide!

At the point I need a new settee and can't decide. Am in love with the sunshine yellow Jonah from made.com, but not sure re quality and durability with small children? We actually rarely use our front room but still don't want it getting wrecked. Came across the fifty eight g plan by Wayne Hemingway and lusting after that in grey or teal, buts it's expensive!! Looks the business though. Have been meaning to buy one for three years now but am so indecisive! Will post links below....

I'm looking for a new sofa too - I have say on at least a hundred so far! The comfiest I've found so far, for me anyway, was the John Lewis Barbican. But we don't like the retro styling, second comfiest was next stratus, I think that's what it's called. But we don't like the big arms! I'll never find what I'm looking for at this rate!

Good luck OP. Oh and M&S have some nice little retro sofas in their new Loft range, might be worth a look?

That yellow sofa would make me happy every day.

Until my 3 year old ate blueberries on it, obviously.

One day I will have a beautiful tasteful home!

Marmitelover55 · 24/03/2015 16:31

We have the G Plan retro 1967 and its very comfortable. Admittedly 60s replica rather than 50s.

Tournesol · 24/03/2015 16:35

Personally with small children I would go for a reasonably cheap sofa so you won't be too gutted if it gets ruined.

The tesco one and the yellow one both look good, but agree I'm not sure I'd want to watch a movie sitting on one!

bright bazaar.book

This is exact how I'd style said yellow sofa. Would involve banning children/ pets/ husband from front room but itd look ace

Can't seem to find a link, but it's the pic on the front of the design book 'bright bazaar' with the Donna Wilson cushions

We have this one from Made. www.made.com/sofas-and-armchairs/redford-3-seater-sofa-manta-grey-and-contrast-buttons
And the matching armchair.
The sofa is very comfy and the arm chair is big enough to curl up in.

Love, love the G plan one you have linked to. I have been lusting after the G plan 53 large leather sofa, but have not tried it out for comfort. Ultimately for me, comfort would need come first so I think you should get out and about. If its is comfy for you, go for it. I don't think it will date and personally I think it really does have the edge of the others linked here in terms of design,

boxofissues · 25/03/2015 00:44

Can't open the link to the yellow one, but the GPlan is gorgeous op. Only thing that could put me off is the low arms as I lean and lay against the ends.

Depending on the space of course I like a bigger more neutral coloured sofa and a smaller more colourful one.

I loved the look of the gplan sofa so went to John Lewis to sit on t and check it out.

Wouldn't buy it.
The cushions are not reversible and they do not contain enough padding so are likely to sag within a year or two.
Not worth the money.

Shame as I loved the look

FemaleDilbert · 05/04/2017 08:22

Just followed the link to the eBay seller, some nice things but oh sweet Jesus this one: m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kaleidoscope-large-patchwork-chesterfield-sofa-as-seen-on-BBC-TV-/192140329981?nav=SEARCH

Shock Shock

We just bought this from French Connection at DFS. We needed something with removable cushions due to small children. C pleased with it (also got cuddler sofa and armchair) m.dfs.co.uk/zinc/znc64aznc
