Installing a dishwasher- cold water inlet sprays water everywhere!

We had a dishwasher (second hand) which I installed after a bit of go ogling, and it worked fine until it didn't (wasn't surprised, since it was 20 years old). We bought a new one which was delivered today. I hooked up the waste pipe and the cold water inlet pipe in exactly the same way, and the water pipe sprays water violently everywhere once I turn the tap on the pipe. It feels properly screwed on (couldn't be tighter without tools) but just seems to let water out in all directions. The instructions are useless, but the hose was included inside the dishwasher so must be the right one?!?

Wish we'd paid for installation now! Anyone have any ideas?

The hose os probably not sealing properly in the screw bit. Turn off the water, unscrew it and start again. When screwing the white bit on, check it is not cross threaded and pull the hose (gently) towards you, to ensure it fits at the end of the screw

Thank you! I persisted as you advised and it's now chugging away happily :)
