How to remove Fablon

We have just bought a lovely 30s house which needs renovation. The downstairs loo has the original tiles, but these are covered in Fablon. I have been tearing the plastic top coat off and the soaking and scraping the paper coat off but it is taking forever- surely there must be a better way? Thanks
