Help me choose flooring

I want wooden floors. This is a Victorian terrace (quite small, 3 bed).

I've narrowed it down to engineered oak and the final choice is between two - a reclaimed look brown (looks quite authentic but not the exact shade I wanted) and a "coffee" coloured darker brown. Love the dark coffee one but am worried it will make the small house look even smaller?

I'm planning to have some colourful or lighter rugs in the main rooms (living, dining, master bed) to break up the solid dark floors though. And I generally prefer dark floors to light ones.

Do you have dark flooring in a small house?

Should I just go to the reclaimed look as it's a bit lighter and very in keeping with the old house?

Help!

I think dark wooden floors look great but only if you're prepared to spend a lot of time keeping them clean. Everything shows up.

This is what we have in our rented house and they constantly look filthy! If you are very tidy and don't have/ plan to have kids then you would probably be ok Grin

I just had a look at some engineered reclaimed oak flooring on google images and it looks good, I might go for that in our new house.

Dark floors look dusty ALL THE TIME! We have them now and would never have them again as I'm not a daily sweeper.
