Broken Boiler- desperately calling Pigletjohn!!

  • I have an Remeha Avanta Plus that decided to stop working this morning and won't reset- same error keeps coming up. E4. I have tried to reset it several times.
I also have an engineer coming tomorrow but anything I can try in the meantime? Please help!? Thank you!

from google it says this:

Check yellow
gas valve,
bottom boiler,
gas valve must
be in line with
gas supply pipe,
if necessary
open gas valve.

Press R-key

Wait for
recovery;
display shows
0, boiler
functions
properly

Display shows
E4 again:
note down the
error code and
boiler type
and call your
installer.

can't help you with this, there is no DIY action.

I saw it mentioned on a trade site, a Remaha engineer will probably recognise it, apparently Remaha offer a kit of parts to fix the rope seal, I think with a later modified version, so perhaps it is not an unusual fault.

Are you still in warranty? If not, try moaning at the maker in the grounds that you believe it is a common fault due to original part not being up to the job. Warranty might be 5 years.

Not in warranty I'm afraid as about 6 years old but do have British gas homecare ( which I was just about to cancel) so won't cost us but wonder whether there will be a delay to get parents etc....
