I love Fournier St in London, but £3m for something off Brick Lane???

The fact that it's off Brick lane is maybe why you get so much for your money?

"A property of historic importance with panelled reception rooms and fine staircase. Hall, first floor drawing room, 5 additional reception rooms, master bedroom with en suite bathroom, 5 further bedrooms, further bathrooms, large kitchen/breakfast room. Former carriage-house and secluded garden."

As opposed, to say, a one bedroom flat:

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 14/03/2015 19:39

It is wonderful and £3m seems like a total bargain.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 14/03/2015 19:42

It is really stunning! There are some complete monstrocities for sale in London for 10 times that. And im up North so have only just got an indoor loo and running water.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 14/03/2015 19:42

Not being facetious. Four and half thousand square feet in a central location in a stunning period building with gorgeous period features for £3m seems insanely cheap.

GingerPhoenix · 14/03/2015 20:03

I love the area round Brick Lane but i'd rather have this

dyslexicdespot · 14/03/2015 20:08

I love it Ginger!

HermioneWeasley · 14/03/2015 21:12

Ginger, it is stunning but rather a different target market Grin

I stand corrected on the £3m point!

A couple of the house photos are a bit stretched. It won't be as spacious as it looks.

Devora · 14/03/2015 21:25

Three gorgeous houses, but the Fournier St one is my favourite.

Rural isolation is lovely to visit, but that looks like a house where you'd get visited by vampires.

DelGirl · 14/03/2015 21:56

It's gorgeous and I agree it seems cheap to me. Why only 4 pics I wonder.

DelGirl · 14/03/2015 22:01

That 1 bed in soho has got the wrong floor plan!!!

RaphaellaTheSpanishWaterDog · 14/03/2015 22:12

The Fournier Street house wins hands down for me......

Devora · 14/03/2015 23:12

That Glenmoristan house - absolutely stunning, I agree - but what is going on in photo 18? And 19? Is that the huntin' shootin' fishin' processing plant?

AnnieThePianist · 14/03/2015 23:19

I always find it fascinating, comparing the properties you can get for the same budget. 8 bed mansion in stunning Countryside vs 1 bed poky flat overlooked by everyone. Same budget...nuts. People life choices are what fascinate me I suppose.

Devora · 14/03/2015 23:24

And also life opportunities, Annie. There can't be many decent-paying jobs near the Glenmoristan house; guess it's for the independently wealthy or earned-a-packet-now-retiring-early.

Devora · 14/03/2015 23:49

This is what £3m buys you in Zone 4, where I grew up:

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-46208887.html

I used to walk past this house on my way to school. I lived in a council flat with no inside toilet; this house seemed to me like a mysterious palace. It still does! The decor is not to my taste, but what a fantastic place.

Devora · 14/03/2015 23:52

The big cream coloured building you can see in photo 18 is the Queen's Hotel, notorious in the media for housing 600 immigrants in only 98 bedrooms.

HoneySwampDragonInMourning · 15/03/2015 00:03

It irrationally annoys me when they take pictures of the bathroom and leave the toilet lid up.

I've just withdrawn my imaginary offer of 3 million pounds of my imaginary fortune, to the estate agent.

14575 · 15/03/2015 08:28

Can't believe it's got a spaceship! That wins hands down for me :)

GingerPhoenix · 15/03/2015 09:38

Forget Scotland, I so want that London house with the space ship - packing my bags and heading west right now to camp on the estate agents doorstep to persuade them to sell it to match my budget.
I suppose I could stay put and buy this instead.

Devora · 15/03/2015 21:17

We all need a spaceship, don't we? Grin

But I love that square room right at the top of the house - the views must be amazing. Bear in mind it's in Upper Norwood, right at the top of the highest hill in London.

Momagain1 · 15/03/2015 21:41

Oh, Ginger, that one's right near my in-laws. And much nicer.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 15/03/2015 21:52

£3m in my neck of the woods.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 15/03/2015 21:55

Love, love, love the house in the OP.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 16/03/2015 07:49

Pete, that is lovely. Bit of cosmetic work to do but the location and the bones of it are gorgeous.
