Moving down south

We are moving down south from Merseyside in the spring and would value any advice on renting a property in a town near to Gatwick. We have two boys aged 10 and 12 and will need to think about secondary schools as well. We have heard that Horsham is nice but personally have no idea!! Any advice welcome please.

I can't comment on the living there aspect...but DH is from Surrey, near Horsham and we travel there frequently for visits...have good friends living in Horsham.

I love where we live (350 miles away!) but that general area is the only place I've been in the UK where I've said to DH I could imagine living there as well. Lovely, green Countryside, nice pubs, friendly people.

It's only the insane property prices that would stop me moving to Horsham because what our friends paid for a tiny two bed is the same as we paid for a large 4 bed with land.

BUT other than that, seems a lovely place to live!

Only concern now is moving the boys :-( Are they gonna hate us for pulling them away from their friends? Such a big decision.

Thanks for the advice! It sounds like a lovely place to live.

Have to agree that Horsham is lovely and my first thought for a suggestion too.

Why are you moving? If it's part of your dh work do you really have a choice?
