cost of replacing windows for whole house?

We need the whole house to be re-windowed. It's a 4 bedroom, two reception and includes 2 big bays and 2 sets of French doors so it's a pretty big job.

We have had 2 quotes so far - one was £21k inc vat, the other was £9k plus vat (so about £12k in total). Both are FENSA accredited but I ws a bot shocked at the difference in price Shock

Can anyone give a vague idea of what I should expect to be paying ? also any recommendations of good companies? we are in North London. Thanks.

We paid £8k for a four bed house with a local company. I am very pleased with the whole process. New windows made such a difference to the house.

Previously we've had windows replaced by Zenith. Windows were great - sales process and after care harassment were awful. I would never buy from them again. I threatened legal action at one point because of the constant phonecalls.

Will they be wooden or upvc?

Fab41 · 14/03/2015 12:55

We are fitting upvc to a 1930s cottage style semi detached house. Going for dummy sash style with astragal bars to copy original as well as monkey tail handles. Including back door, which is a standard all glass, we are paying £6800 incl. VAT.
Depends a lot on the style you opt for. We could have done it for £5300 or £21k for wood....

We need to do this too. Does anyone know where to get good quality aluminium windows?
