The last time we had to find our own tradesman was when we had a new boiler fitted last year.

Our next-door neighbours highly recommended their boiler fitter, but the job he had done was a bit 'bodge it and scarper'.

Our site maintenance person at work highly recommended a friend. He was bloody expensive.

We found a local person on Checkatrade. His reviews were good, his quote was reasonable and he did an excellent job. He has since done the rest of the work for our extension and our builder is now using him for other jobs that he is doing.

I think everyone will have different experiences.
