So about to put the house on the market. My living room has a feature wall papered chimney breast and then two large alcoves. In a moment of madness at xmas i decided to repaint in a strong colour and i applied 2 tester pots in large blocks.

Now i want to get it on the market quickly i wanted to paint the blocks back to the original wall colour, so i dont have to repaint the whole very large room. I have applied several coats of white to cover up the strong colour. If i paint the original wall colour over will it cover it? Will it look ok? Original colour is an apple green so quite pale -cant afford a decorator. It was suggested that i do a slightly darker colour than the original, would this be better. My back is up against the wall as dream house has been found so i need to move quickly.

Also does anyone have any tips how i can ensure that i get the best finish poss. I am ok at painting but thats as good as it gets.

Thanks in advance

Paint the rest of the alcove walls you tried the testers on with the white then put two coats of the pale green over the whole area.

Hi thanks. I bought some paint in a very similar colour so about to apply a first coat over the white blocks (previously strong colour blocks) and then will give the whole wall another coat. HOPEFULLY i wont have to do the whole room and the colour will be similar enough or atleast look like its supposed to look like that!

Obvs they have discontinued the actual paint colour and the ones i bought are too light. So i have painted the white blocks and will have to paint the whole 2 alcoves and opp wall tom - sigh
