I'm looking for a darker shade that will nourish and protect (sounds like my hair conditioner!) my table and chairs... Any suggestions please?

teak is an oily wood, so you use teak oil, not stain.

If you really want an unnatural colour, sand it lightly and use Colron wood dye and let it dry fully, then rub off the surface with a rag before you oil it.

I use linseed oil on mine, but it is not a seat. It looks and smells nice but might come off on your clothes, especially in hot sunny weather.

Thanks pigletjohn have advised me wood stain + exterior satin varnish which by the sounds of it isn't right ? Think I'll take a trip back down then and swop it. Thx

Teak is a very durable wood and probably the best you can get for outdoors.

You could try the Ronseal website, they do have a help line.

Teak is such a beautiful colour, it seems like a shame to stain it! I'd definitely go for the teak oil. Smile

Found some coloron wood dye in the garage! Will use that. Thx!
