Anyone had this?
Just need to know where to start?
Do you get the builders in first?
Do we need planning permission?

Not had one myself but I live beside an estate that is around years old. Over the years I've seen some loft conversions with dormers and velux appearing and have watched the work as I walk past on the way to DCs nursery.

See if anyone you know has had a loft conversion to find a recommended company - Id suggest a specialist loft conversion company. Read some lft conversion companies websites to get some more info as you may or may not need PP.

If no one knows a company, pick 3 ish based on website etc. Get them round for an initial viability survey to see if you have enough roof height, or if not, what they can do for you.

If they can build and you think you might want to to do it, ask can you see some completed examples.

We had three quotes and looked at each companies real life work. They were all great but some had just that bit more attention to detail etc.

We are still deciding on a loft conversion.

are you sure the loft is suitable? new builds can be a nightmare with truss roof

No no not sure at all. Have absolutely no idea. Never even been up there.
Just probably dreaming. Confused
