Landscape Gardener or Builder to do job

Help!

I need some quite substantial steps built in our back garden to join two different areas in height. I am talking approx 15ft wide and covering a drop of approx 3ft between two garden levels. I need some sort of handrail (ancient relatives visit sometimes) and I want it to be safe and substantial (grandchildren too!) and attractive.
Question is ..... do I need a builder or do I need a landscape gardener. Is there much difference in price? Or quality? Or capability?

You are probably guessing that we do not have the ability ourselves.

We did exactly this and used a landscape gardener. They are better at designing gardens and think about how everything will fit together. Ours had loads of great ideas and advice based on other jobs they had done locally.

Alternatively, you could get a landscape gardener to do the design work as an initial job and then use his design to get quotes from him and third parties. If there's not a big price difference, I'd go with the gardener.

Good advice.

A Builder will do as you ask.
A Landscape Gardener will design for you.
